Premium Materials
Each S Series uses select North American tonewoods: Engelmann spruce for warmth and complexity or Adirondack (red) spruce for power and clarity, paired with figured maple back, sides, and neck.
The matte lacquer finish provides greater durability than spirit varnish while remaining thin enough to preserve the instrument's natural liveliness and projection.

Airloom Recurve Case
Every F5S includes the Airloom Recurve case, a collaboration between Northfield and German case maker Jakob Winter.
The Recurve uses an innovative process that transforms plant materials like hemp and flax into a rigid, protective shell through heat and pressure—no toxic glues required. The result is exceptional protection in a surprisingly lightweight package.
The case features custom molding designed specifically for mandolins, with foam blocks for shock protection and an accessory compartment for picks, strings, and other essentials. Weather-resistant construction and a comfortable handle make it ideal for everything from local gigs to cross-country travel.
